Chaplain Chronicles: Minnesota Mysteries

Two weeks ago I received a box of generosity.  The box was eight and a half by eleven, five inches deep, and it came from Minnesota.  In addition, something inside jiggled when the box was shaken.  Why did this box arrive here?

This box meandered across the miles to our door because three of my Rochester, Minnesota, Franciscan Sisters came to visit me, and to serve our dining room guests.  The day my Sisters came here I was standing in front of 150 Golden Gate giving away rosaries to those who asked for one.  When the Sisters went back to Minnesota, one of them told Sister Joan that the Chaplains at St. Anthony’s could use rosaries for distribution.  Sister Joan had connections;  she knew a group of rosary makers at Pax Christi parish where she ministered.  When Sister Joan called me to ask the number of rosaries we needed, I replied,  “We would be happy if you could send ten rosaries a month, but whatever you can do, we will be grateful.”

When I opened the box from Minnesota, there were 1,550 Minnesota mysteries.

I was stunned when I realized I was holding  a box of 310 Rosaries from caring Rosary workers!
