In the spirit of the Gospel, inspired by the joy and compassion of Francis and Clare of Assisi, in solidarity with all who hunger and thirst for justice and peace, and together with those we serve, our mission is to feed, heal, shelter, clothe, lift the spirits of those in need, and create a society in which all persons flourish.

On October 4, 1950, Father Alfred Boedekker opened the doors of St. Anthony’s Dining Room. That first day, he expected to serve 150 meals; he ended up serving 400.
Our mission is informed by our values: healing, community, personalism, justice, and gratitude.
Every day, we provide essential services, health care, and gateways to stability to thousands of San Franciscans in need.
Our work is inspired by the strength of our guests, the dedication of our staff, and the generosity of our donors and volunteers.
