Sweet Moments, Big Momentum on the Golden Gate Greenway
September 22, 2025

On Thursday afternoon, the Golden Gate Greenway came alive with the first in a new series of joyful, pop-up community activations! More than 150 Tenderloin children, neighbors, and partners gathered to share ice cream, play pick-up soccer, and imagine what’s possible when we invest in safe, welcoming public space.
This inaugural Pop-Up Ice Cream Social was hosted by St. Anthony Foundation and Supervisor Bilal Mahmood, with scoops generously provided by Hometown Creamery and vouchers from Children of Shelters.
A heartfelt thank-you to our incredible St. Anthony’s team — and to Geoffrey McFarland, who worked hand-in-hand with neighbors, Supervisor Bilal, and community partners to bring this joyful day to life. Special thanks as well to DA Brooke Jenkins, De Marillac Academy, Coach Chris Stokes, and all the neighbors and friends who joined us.

What’s Next
This is just the beginning. The Golden Gate Greenway Coalition — led by St. Anthony Foundation — is committed to transforming this corridor into a joyful, family-friendly hub for the 3,500+ children who call the Tenderloin home. Future plans include kid-themed murals, more trees, enhanced lighting, and more pop-up events that bring neighbors together.
