St. Anthony’s Hosts Free Community Ice Cream Social for Children and Families on the Golden Gate Greenway for I Love Tenderloin Week

WHAT:
The Tenderloin is home to more children than any other neighborhood in San Francisco, yet it has no permanent ice cream shop. On Wednesday, June 24 from 3:00 – 5:30 pm, St. Anthony Foundation will host a free community ice cream social, featuring ice cream from a Mister Softee truck, games, a fire truck, and family-friendly activities for children and families. Community leaders, including Mayor Daniel Lurie, will join in the festivities. Children and families are invited to grab a cone, play a game, meet neighbors, and celebrate everything to love about the Tenderloin.

WHY:
The gathering is part of I Love Tenderloin Week 2026 (June 21 to 27), a neighborhood-wide celebration of the people, small businesses, and places that make the district one of San Francisco’s most diverse and vibrant communities. For St. Anthony’s, the social continues an ongoing effort to create safe, welcoming public space for the Tenderloin’s youngest residents and to invite all San Franciscans to experience the neighborhood’s character for themselves. The ice cream social is being hosted by St. Anthony’s, in partnership with the SF Office of Economic and Workforce Development, De Marillac Academy, Wu Yee Children’s Services, 826 Valencia, SEED Impact, the Tenderloin Community Benefit District, and the SF Fire Department. In the spirit of Franciscan values, St. Anthony Foundation works to feed, heal, clothe, and lift the spirits of those in need, serving the San Francisco community for more than 75 years. The Foundation provides integrated care under one roof for women and families working to exit homelessness, including primary medical and mental health care, job training, computer literacy classes, and multi-year peer support, all designed to help families become stable and self-sufficient.
