On Saturday, Oct. 4th, the foundation will celebrate its caring community of supporters whose kindness has fueled its mission for decades
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — September 28, 2025 — St. Anthony Foundation will host a “Celebrating 75 Years on Golden Gate” Block Party on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 12:00–3:00 p.m. on the Golden Gate Greenway to mark its milestone 75th Anniversary of service to San Francisco.
This free, family-friendly community celebration will bring together neighbors, civic leaders, donors, and volunteers to share holiday treats, music, and joyful activities that reflect St. Anthony’s mission of providing essential and life-changing services to more than 10,000 guests each year.
“Seventy-five years ago, our founders opened their doors with a simple Franciscan vision — to offer connection, warm meals, and hope to anyone who needed it,” said Dr. Lawrence Kwan, CEO of St. Anthony Foundation. “Today, our community of supporters continues to make that vision real, equipping thousands of our neighbors each year with the tools to renew their lives and together, we’re creating a blueprint for a thriving Tenderloin community and beyond.”
Event Highlights
- Blessing of the Animals: 10:00am-3:00pm A St. Anthony’s tradition that honors the Feast of St. Francis, celebrating all creatures great and small.
- Civic & Community Leaders: Local leaders and partners will join St. Anthony’s team to offer warm winter essentials to guests, share remarks, and celebrate progress made toward a stronger Tenderloin and San Francisco. Speaking portion at 12:15pm.
- Family Fun & Free Activities: Kids’ bike giveaway with SF Bike Coalition, games, arts and crafts, raffles, and more.
- Food & Hospitality: Treats and refreshments, and giveaways for community members of all ages.
A Season of Gratitude
The “Celebrating 75 Years on Golden Gate” Block Party is a joyful example of what happens when San Franciscans join together to give thanks for one another. St. Anthony’s extends deep gratitude to its sponsors and partners — including Kaiser Permanente, Waymo, BiRite Foodservice Distributors, SF Bike Coalition, Chinatown Community Development Center, Faithful Fools, and Curry Senior Club, SF library, Boys and Girls Club, — for helping make the event possible.
“Together, we’re not just serving meals or giving away bikes and warm winter essentials,” Dr. Kwan added. “We’re strengthening our caring community of belonging. We’re reminding one another that every neighbor deserves dignity, connection, and the chance to thrive.”
