City Hall gala honors the people and partnerships building a blueprint for stronger, more compassionate communities.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., October 2025 — This November, St. Anthony Foundation will celebrate 75 years of serving the San Francisco community with its Fourth Annual Leading the Way Gala, a joyful 1950s-themed evening honoring the donors, volunteers, staff, and guests who embody the organization’s enduring mission of care and connection.

Hosted at San Francisco City Hall on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 6 p.m., the event will pay tribute to the individuals who have carried forward the vision of founder Fr. Alfred Boeddeker, who opened St. Anthony’s in 1950 as a humble dining room guided by the Franciscan belief that everyone deserves respect and belonging.

From that single dining room, St. Anthony’s has grown into one of the city’s most trusted providers of integrated, whole-person care—offering essential and life-changing services including a medical clinic, technology lab, a free, year-long residential addiction recovery program, job training, and San Francisco’s largest free clothing program. Today, the foundation serves more than 10,000 people each year who are experiencing or at risk of poverty, homelessness, or addiction.

At this year’s milestone gala, St. Anthony’s will honor:

  • The Franciscan FriarsFr. John Hardin, OFM, and Br. Antonio Luevano, OFM
  • Generous DonorsHarcourt Allen and David Smith
  • Long-Standing VolunteersBeryl Voss and Madison Seto
  • Dedicated StaffGeorgene McNicoll and Chase Klein
  • Program GuestsRichard Beal and David Chavez
  • Corporate Champions Dolby Laboratories and Waymo

Several elected officials are also expected to join the festivities, including Supervisor Rafael Mandelman, Supervisor Bilal Mahmood, and others celebrating this milestone of service and community.

The evening will feature a pre- and post-dinner reception, inspiring testimonials, live entertainment, and delicious cuisine—all culminating in a joyful reflection on 75 years of service and the city’s collective capacity for kindness.

“It’s our shared belief in the dignity of every person that guides our work,” said Dr. Larry Kwan, Chief Executive Officer. “For 75 years, our supporters have led the way with generosity and heart. Their kindness continues to fuel our mission—and the hope for San Francisco’s renewal. Together, we’re building a blueprint for stronger, more resilient, and compassionate communities.”

Rooted in the Tenderloin for 75 years, St. Anthony’s remains San Francisco’s most trusted place of love and belonging—where neighbors, civic partners, volunteers, and guests come together to turn compassion into action and create a living blueprint for a thriving community.

Young Professionals Council Gala Afterparty at San Francisco City Hall
The celebration doesn’t end when the gala does. Following the program, St. Anthony’s Young Professionals Council (YPC) will host an afterparty in the iconic City Hall Rotunda—a spirited continuation of the evening’s joy and generosity.

Guests will enjoy an open bar with cocktails and mocktails, live music and entertainment, hors d’oeuvres and desserts, and a photo booth to capture the night in style. A lively raffle will feature prizes including a hot tub boat excursion in the bay, spa packages, and Volo Sports League passes.

It’s a chance for young professionals and emerging leaders to celebrate in one of San Francisco’s most stunning spaces—and to connect with others who share a passion for service, belonging, and renewal. Every ticket and raffle purchase directly supports St. Anthony Foundation’s mission of providing essential and life-changing services for our neighbors in the Tenderloin and beyond.
