Mission Moment—January 2023

By Arianna Inferrera, St. Anthony’s Mission Program and Events Coordinator

Hope. Stability. Renewal. Every year we ask ourselves – “What is my New Years resolution?”. In essence, we are asking ourselves, what can I do better this year? How can I be better to myself and unto others?

I would like us to remember our Mission here at St. Anthony Foundation:

“In the spirit of the Gospel, inspired by the joy and compassion of Francis and Clare of Assisi, in solidarity with all who hunger and thirst for justice and peace, and together with those we serve, our mission is to feed, heal, shelter, clothe, lift the spirits of those in need, and create a society in which all persons flourish.”

It is through continuous joy and acts of faith that we remind ourselves to continue the unwavering compassion and love for one another, just as St. Francis and St. Clare did. We are called to put our faith into action each and every day, in small and major ways in our individual lives. Our values of community and personalism help guide us to honor our own continuous renewal as we seek to be integral part of the community we serve.

In a reflection session I recently had with a high school, a chaperone left their students with a valuable reflection that I would like to share: “St. Anthony’s work is hard work, every day. But most importantly, it is heart – work, renewing our love for one another every day.”
