Honoring 75 Years in the Spirit of St. Anthony

July 24, 2025

Over 150 people gathered and filled St. Boniface Church to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of St. Anthony Foundation. The liturgy began with everyone singing Jesse Manibusan’s All Are Welcome, All Belong,” a perfect reflection of St. Anthony’s mission of creating a community rooted in welcome, healing, and hope!  Later, Fr. John Hardin, OFM, preached a homily starting from an encounter that Fr. Alfred Boeddeker, OFM, founder of St. Anthony Foundation, had with a statue of St. Anthony – an experience that inspired him to open the Foundation’s now-iconic dining room. “What is the answer to all of the ills of the world?” Fr. John asked. “We need to spread love.” Towards the end of the liturgy, there was a blessing of a newly commissioned icon of St. Anthony. (Read more here).

For 75 years, St. Anthony Foundation has stood with San Francisco’s most vulnerable, offering essential services, fostering belonging, and advocating for justice. As they look to the future, you are warmly invited to visit, volunteer, and be part of this mission because healing begins with community, and community begins with you.

Inspired by the life of St. Anthony, whose compassion sparked our founding 75 years ago, we invite you to gather with us for a special anniversary luncheon on August 21. Join us in celebration.

You can nourish your neighbors and strengthen community—right here in the Tenderloin. Whether it’s a bag of groceries, a warm meal, or a simple moment of connection, your support helps make it possible. Consider making a gift to St. Anthony’s or SF-Marin Food Bank today.
