FREE CLOTHING PROGRAM

St. Anthony Foundation’s Free Clothing Program is San Francisco’s largest free clothing program, providing warm clothes, interview or employment apparel, and children’s clothing to homeless and low-income families and individuals. Through over $3 million worth of clothing donations from individuals and corporate partners and the dedication of nearly 1,200 volunteer hours each month, the program provides 39,000 sets of free new and like-new clothing to nearly 11,000 guests each year, including over 2,900 children.

The average family spends $700 a year on clothing a growing child (USDA, 2014); the majority of families have two or three children which can mean spending up to $2,100 a year. For a low-income or single parent struggling to pay rent, health costs and other critical bills, a clothing budget may be nonexistent.

Our multilingual staff welcomes guests in a boutique-like setting where they select their own household and clothing items to best suit their needs.

Whether wardrobe items for a job, warm clothes for winter months, or school clothes for growing young boys and girls, the Clothing Program provides high-quality clothes that instill a stronger sense of self-worth and dignity, and improve personal presentation to help clients secure and maintain employment.

In addition to the ongoing services at the Clothing Program’s location, an emergency clothing closet next door to St. Anthony’s Dining Room provides emergency clothing to guests who would not otherwise make it to clothing services.

Through this expanded service we can ensure that seniors and guests with disabilities receive clothes necessary for their safety, comfort and dignity.

Hours

Men & Women Service Monday – Friday Signups are from 7:30am – 8:00am (first come, first served) Guests receive 30 minute shopping appointments between 8:15am and 11:45am.

Family Service Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday Lottery held at 2:30pm 20 families receive 30 minute shopping appointments between 3:00pm and 4:00pm  *Families who are homeless or in critical need can be seen by appointment rather than going through the lottery. Appointments can ONLY be made by a case worker or social worker. For more information, please call (415) 592-2843.

Clothes Donation

Donations of clean, like new clothing and financial gifts make this program possible. We offer a convenient curbside donation drop-off in front of our building every day of the year. Hours and location for this curbside drop-off are: Monday – Sunday, 9:00am – 2:00pm 121 Golden Gate Avenue (at Jones Street)

You may also make a donation from 2:00pm – 4:00pm by entering the Dining Room at 121 Golden Gate, where a staff person will assist you.

Stitchers for St. Anthony
