About One City Day

Join us for One City Day — San Francisco’s first-ever citywide day of service! On Saturday, July 11th, San Franciscans across all 11 districts will come together to volunteer, connect, and show up for the city we love. Whether you’re gardening, cleaning up a neighborhood, packing supplies, or creating art, there’s the perfect project for all ages and abilities.

St. Anthony’s Volunteer Shifts for One City Day

Breakfast Service
Help welcome guests into our Dining Room with coffee, breakfast, and hospitality to start the day. Volunteers will support meal preparation, serving coffee and meals, and cleaning while helping create a warm and respectful environment for neighbors seeking nourishment and connection. Volunteers are not required to do any heavy lifting; however, they will need to stand for most of the shift.
o Time: 6:30 – 8:30am

Dining Room Meal Service
Join us in preparing and serving hot meals for neighbors across San Francisco. St. Anthony’s serves more approximately 2,000 meals each day, offering not only nourishment, but also consistency, care, and community. Volunteers will assist with food preparation, serving meals, bussing tables, and maintaining a welcoming Dining Room environment. Volunteers are not required to do any heavy lifting; however, they will need to stand for most of the shift.
o Time: 9:30am – 1:30pm

Free Clothing Program Clothing Distribution

St. Anthony’s Free Clothing Program (FCP) is San Francisco’s largest free clothing program, providing clean and dignified clothing to individuals and families experiencing poverty and homelessness. Volunteers will help sort clothing, organize inventory, and support guests as personal shoppers, helping ensure every person has access to quality clothing and meaningful choice. Volunteers should be comfortable standing for extended periods, lifting 20 pounds, and participating in repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
o First Shift: 9:00am – 12:00pm
o Second Shift: 1:30pm – 4:00pm

Lemonade & Block Beautification
Help bring joy, creativity, and connection to the Golden Gate Greenway through a family-friendly community activation featuring lemonade, chalk art, bubbles, and interactive activities. Volunteers will help welcome neighbors into the space while supporting St. Anthony’s vision for a safer, healthier, and more connected Tenderloin community. This shift is ideal for families and younger volunteers participating alongside a parent or guardian.
o Time: 12:00 – 2:00pm
o Volunteers Needed: 5-8

Keep the Celebration Going

After a morning of serving our city, we invite you to celebrate with fellow One City Day volunteers. Beginning at noon, neighborhood celebrations will take place across San Francisco, offering a chance to connect, enjoy a complimentary lunch, and reflect on the impact we’ve made together.

Whether you’d like to stay in the Tenderloin or head to a celebration closer to home, we hope you’ll join one of the locations below.

District 1: Richmond Republic Draught House

District 2: Bar Darling
Bonus: If you’re volunteering nearby, stop by Gap Chestnut (2159 Chestnut Street) for a special One City Day celebration featuring custom embroidery and complimentary patches by Ceremony Chainstitching with purchase, live entertainment by DJ Mixxtress, complimentary snacks, and more.

District 3: Joe DiMaggio Playground Park (with pizza by the amazing Golden Boy Pizza and Za Pizza)

District 4: Underdogs Too

Tenderloin: Fern Alley Music Series (with Outta Sight Pizza)
Bonus: Live on Larkin programming on Larkin Street between Eddy & O’Farrell from 12:00pm – 5:00pm (hosted by the Tenderloin Community Benefit District).

District 6: SPARK Social

Treasure Island: Lunch from Culinary Arts – Job Corps at Treasure Island Landing.
Bonus: Volunteers are invited to visit the Treasure Island Museum for free afterward!

District 7: Location forthcoming

District 8: Rikki’s Sports Bar

District 9: Manny’s

District 10: All Good Pizza
Bonus: Dogpatch Music Series taking place at the Minnesota Flyover (20th & Minnesota Streets). Check it out from 2:00pm – 5:00pm.
