Urban Plunge Schedule
9:00 AM St. Anthony’s staff greets the group and provides an overview of St. Anthony’s,
Tenderloin neighborhood history, and issues of poverty in San Francisco. This
workshop is tailored to be appropriate for the age of the group.
9:45 AM The group is escorted to various service sites. Volunteers may serve in St. Anthony’s
Dining Room, Clothing Program, or with one of our partner agencies in the
neighborhood. The number of service sites varies based on the number of people in
the group. For youth groups, there must be an adult chaperone at each site.
Noon Groups not serving in the Dining Room return and a staff person prepares them to
join our guests, waiting in line to share lunch and conversation in the Dining Room
with our guests.
1:00 PM SAF staff leads the group in a debrief discussion on the day’s experiences and participants learn ways they can continue to be involved in service to our community. Addiction & Recovery Witness Talk – a member of St. Anthony’s recovery program
shares their personal story of addiction and healing. Group members have an
opportunity to ask questions and discuss the issues of addiction.
1:30 PM Group departs. SAF staff leads the group in a discussion on the day’s experiences and participants
learn ways they can continue to be involved in service and advocacy.
2:00 PM Group departs.
