“When people think about hunger, they don’t often picture their grandparent.”
Food Pantry Drive
Nearly three quarters of St. Anthony’s Social Work Center Food Pantry clients are seniors. Many of them must make the difficult decision between purchasing food and purchasing medicine. And for many of them, food is medicine. For children, proper nutrition supports brain development and well as physical development. Approximately 25% of San Francisco’s seniors and 26% of children state-wide face food insecurity.
These are often hard-working adults, children and seniors who simply cannot make ends meet and are forced to go without food for several meals, or even days. The next time you are shopping, think of those who do not get enough to eat and pick up a can to donate to St. Anthony’s.
We gratefully accept all shelf-stable food pantry donations. We particularly need donations of proteins such as tuna, chicken, peanut butter, canned fish of any kind, protein shakes, nuts or any other shelf stable protein.
Donations are accepted at St. Anthony’s Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:00pm @ 150 Golden Gate Avenue, San Francisco 94102. Contact Gio Erkanat at email@example.com or 415-592-2741 for large donations.
For information on conducting a drive, contact Dolores Gould at firstname.lastname@example.org or 415-592-2704.
