Who is eligible for St. Anthony Foundation internships?

Internships at St. Anthony Foundation are designed for students at the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as high school students who are able to make a semester or year long commitment to our organization.  Interns provide a vital service to St. Anthony Foundation, assisting our staff in meeting the needs of those who come to us not only for services, but also for a listening ear and a heart filled with compassion.

In general, individuals enrolled in an academic program that would benefit from or that require field education are considered for St. Anthony Foundation internships. Some internship opportunities- social work or counseling for example- are professional placements with specific pre-requisites.

What internship opportunities are available?

While there are many opportunities available to prospective interns, all positions are dependent not only on the desire of the prospective intern, but equally on the needs of St. Anthony Foundation and the availability of appropriate staff to provide supervision.

Internships at the Foundation are comprised of three key elements:

  1. Direct service and involvement with clients and guests. Interns will have the opportunity to serve in one or more of the organization’s services and will also have the opportunity to sit in on Justice Education workshops and group visits.
  2. Research on current issues affecting the client populations served by the organization. Working in an individual service area, interns may be asked to complete a research project that will further their understanding of current issues whilst also providing staff and guests with additional sources of information.
  3. Assistance with administrative and organizational tasks that enable the organization to provide quality service to members of the community.
