Justice Education, Volunteer and Advocacy

“With all who hunger and thirst for justice and peace, and together with those we serve, our mission is to feed, heal, shelter, clothe and lift the spirits of those in need to create a society in which all persons flourish."

We carry out our mission by integrating social justice education and reflection into individual and group volunteer experiences, internships and service-learning projects.  And, by engaging in advocacy with St. Anthony guests and residents to create a more just society.  As the numbers of people seeking our services continued to grow in the 1980’s, the Foundation developed these programs to address the social, economic, spiritual, and political causes of increasing poverty in our nation.

The Justice Education Program includes Group Volunteering (both one-dayand 3-10 day immersions), Internships, Service-Learning and Educational Workshops.  This program enriches participant’s service experience by offering education about poverty and homelessness, solidarity experiences, reflection discussions and gives tools to continue to take action after they leave SAF.

The Advocacy Program, guided by our mission, addresses the systematic changes necessary to alleviate poverty.  Our four key issues are hunger, housing, healthcare and a living wage.

Volunteer Program Over, 8,000 people share their time and talent with St. Anthony Foundation each year.  There are a wide variety of volunteer opportunities available throughout the organization.
