This group is not funded by any church or organization. They use whatever fabric, yarn or notions that have been donated. They do not ask for money however they do accept money when it is offered.

Over 100 residents were displaced, forced to leave everything behind. TNDC has placed some of the residents in vacant units in their other properties. Some are on cots in common rooms turned into evacuation centers.

Working with TNDC social workers, the Free Clothing Program delivered bags of clothes to the evacuees, including shoes for residents forced to flee the fire barefoot.

The evacuees needed towels and we didn’t have any in stock. The San Francisco Hilton along with other hotels often gives us gently used towels to give to our guests, but they didn’t have any, either. But seeing the need, they gave us brand new towels, which we picked up and delivered to the evacuees. Thanks again, San Francisco Hilton and Jo Licata!

Most people associate St. Anthony’s with food. But our programs also help put people to work.

The Tenderloin Technology Lab, conducted with San Francisco Network Ministries, offers computer classes at every level from introductory to computer technician. The Tech Lab helps use technology to find a job.

St. Anthony’s Clothing Program collects, inspects, and prepares used clothing for families sending their children to school and unemployed guests looking for a job.

Our Free Medical Clinic’s pediatrics program helps parents stay at work by helping them keep their children healthy.

Residents of our drug and alcohol rehabilitation program get their first work experience in St. Anthony Dining Room and get job coaching to learn not only how to find a job, but also how to hold one.

And as people who have lost their jobs come to the end of their 99 weeks of unemployment benefits, St. Anthony Dining Room is helping to take pressure off their budgets by providing hot, nutritious meals.

St. Anthony’s is more than a charity. Today’s guests are tomorrow’s work force.

In early November, the basement of the Free Clothing Program was empty, down to the bare cement floors. Our donors heard our cries and brought us donations to help us make it through. Then over the holidays their continued generosity, coat drives, clothing drives, and curbside dropoffs filled us to overflowing. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

We’re clearing space to receive another 500 pairs of new shoes from Chrome later today. Our homeless veteran guests really appreciated the ones they gave us to give away on Veterans Day. It’s great to have even more to give away to the rest of our guests. Thanks!

We just received 68 beautiful new coats from the Alaska Railroad. They couldn’t distribute them locally because of the risk that someone might be mistaken for a railroad employee. They found St. Anthony’s on the One Warm Coat website and paid to ship them to us. Thanks, Alaska Railroad!
